Alexander McQueen FW 2011-2012

The Legacy Continues

The Alexander McQueen show took place at “La Conciergerie” the old prison where Maria Antionette was held during the french revolution, a place filled with shadows that was the perfect place to show this collection. The expectancy was high because everybody was waiting to see how would Sarah Burton continue Lee’s work, all expectations were met, the collection had all the drama of McQueen yet had a new feminine touch injected by Sarah Burton, but we can see the values and spirit of McQueen alive, a collection with amazing details that looked more like Haute Couture than Prêt a Porter, and the shoes, well I felt butterflies in my stomach. The biggest buzz around this collection went around the fact that Kate Miiddleton’s wedding dress might be designed by Sarah Burton,  which would make perfect sense because she is part of a new generation in England and the dress should represent that. So those white dresses at the end where a direct message for her. I would definitely wearing a McQueen dress for my wedding but in the meanwhile I will go for the shoes.

Happy WE!

Love,

Yavidan
