You may ask yourself where do the new talents of fashion get a chance to dance their dance, get discovered and launch into this crazy fashion world (Besides the graduation of Central Saint Martin’s College)? Well, the answer is in the heart of the French Riviera at Hyeres Festival for Fashion and Photography held at the avant grade Villa de Noailles, this festival has been held for the last 27 years. The festival has launched the career of numerous talents through its fashion and photography competition (Ex. Viktor and Rolf, Isabel Toledo). The Festival lasts three days and the program is packed with exhibitions, presentations, conferences, parties and of course the awards. The Jury is always composed of influential people inside the fashion industry as well as the people who attend the Fesstival. If you want to know all the details of the Festival, please, please see this video by English Vogue, I think nothing can explain it better and in a more amusing way. This year for the first time the awards fashion show held April 27th was held at the Palais de Tokyo live. As for me, I wanted to give you a tour of images of the designers I liked most, Estonian Ragne Kikas who won the price Premier Vision & The Public Prize of the city of Hyeres with the incredible knits, I have never see such a sophisticated knitting and Lucas Sponchiado who won the price of the public of the Palais de Tokyo and the Villa Noailles, the work with the leather in those green boots and skirt is simply Extraordinaire. As for the La Mode Award sponsored by L’oreal Professionel was given to the finish designers Siiri Raasaka, Tiia Siren and Elina Laitenen for their men’s collection. The new Chloe award sponsored by Chloe was given to Canadian Steven Tai, who really has a style for Chloe, I see him collaborating with the brand. For photography my favorite was Dutch Florian van Roekel with his suits on the chair photos that are quite cool. For more details on the fashion and photography winners go here. Besides the event as mentioned there where some special exhibitions by Yohji Yamamoto and photographers Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin and Jason Evans. At the Festival’a site you will be able to have all the details of the exhibitions and events held. I would love, love to be there next year… setting the intention J.
Love,
Yavidan
